I thought it will be a good idea to start one of my own devblog here, I hope you guys don't mind.

My game has no title yet, so for the time being I would just name it GS101 (Generic Shooter 101). You guys are welcome to christen it if you feel like.

It takes 2 prototype builds to come up with a general idea of how the game should be. I'm working on an alpha build and this is the general goal I set for this project.

GENERIC SHOOTER 101 (working title)

-Isometric shooter with smooth WASD and mouse control
-Combination of pre-rendered and hand drawn sprites
-Simple but deep gameplay with replay value
-5 levels constructed procedurally. Takes about 8-10 minutes each to complete.
-Epic boss fights



here is the status of the game:

1) It's currently has 1 level, running perpetually. I would like to get the basic systems right before I build more on top of it. It is now has 1024x768 view on 2000x2000 pix arena

2) there are 5 weapons in the game currently. The alpha build gives you all weapons for playtesting purpose, in the complete game you will only allowed 1 secondary weapon that you can pick up and use at a time.

           -MACHINE GUN: your main weapon, it knock the enemy back a bit and deal light damage. It has high
rate of fire and unlimited ammo. You can even shoot incoming missile with it, just be careful not to overheat it.

           -HOMING MISSILE: Lock and fire away 6 missiles salvo, you can lock on multiple enemies before firing it. With proper firing angle and timing you can almost guarantee 3 kills or more in one volley.

           -RAILGUN: Goes through several enemies in 1 shot, basically 1 hit 1 kill for cannon fodder enemies. it takes a long time to load and there aren't a lot of ammo.

           -FLAK CANNON: Auto cannon that deals moderate damage and rate of fire, produce shrapnel when hit, best use against loose formation of enemy.

           -MINIGUN: deals exactly the same damage as the machine gun but with 2.5 times rate of fire. this thing went through enemy formation like butter and eat ammo like popcorn.

3) I'm planning to add more weapons, these are just ideas they are not yet coded.

          -Rocket pod: Inaccurate but devastating. rather limited ammo.
          -Energy sword: Giant sword that you can swing using your mouse deals 2 damage per step when touch.

4) There are 3 enemy type
 
          -Red drone: cannon fodder, fly in formation, break formation, move towards and try to shoot you down, periodically engage in evasive flying pattern. I'm tweaking on the distance I want them to keep, and making them pursue you in formation.
         
           -Missile Frigate: rather fast moving and tough enemy, fly in complex path and shoot 3 homing missiles at you. Responsible for most of player's death.

           -Armoured gunship (minigun turret): Fly in straight line and tracking you with it's minigun turret. I plan on having different turret mounts that will drop different weapon that you can pick up and use.

5) there are now 2 types of power up
            -HP : green orb that fully restores your HP
            -Ammo: yellow orb that replenishes your machine gun coolant and add 20-25% of your secondary ammo.

Enemies came from the outside I can't see them and I can't shuck them off when they attack (or attach ?!?) onto my spaceship.  Shocked
